Last week, I was honored to mark a milestone in the history of Ampleen by hosting our first event, our Ampleen Launch Party, a gathering at Greenwich House in New York’s West Village that brought together a diverse audience and sparked some insightful conversations on urban green living.
Our guests enjoyed a “Green Connect” cocktail hour with a like-minded group of people over local wine from upstate New York.
The keynote speaker was Neil Chambers, CEO and founder of the green design and consulting company Chambers Design, who discussed topics based upon his recent book, Urban Green: Architecture for the Future. His unique insight on nature’s system and its application for sustainability captured the imagination of the audience.
His keynote speech was followed by a roundtable that included James Grundvig, CEO of Cloudnician, a software solutions and technology consulting firm; Mack Ramachandran, entrepreneur and leader of Offset4Poor, a carbon-footprint-offset company, and a former director in the U.N. World Food Program; and Aaron Gardner (moderator).
They talked about various urban green topics, such as fracking and biofuel issues, which generated interesting questions among the audience afterward.
I could not be more pleased at the gathering of minds and the number of passionate discussions that arose at our event, and I look forward to building on this experience with another Ampleen event soon.
If you were able to attend last week’s event, I invite you to share your impressions here. If you weren’t able to attend, I invite you to suggest an urban green topic that you would be interested in seeing featured at a future Ampleen event.
We look forward to seeing all of you soon!

Founder, Ampleen
I travelled in from the Jersey Shore area to attend Ampleen’s launch party and was so happy to have found a group of dedicated and motivated green enthusiasts! The structure of the event allowed for relaxed informal networking before we sat down to be educated about environmental projects and issues that we are facing now in the US. I got so much out of attending and meeting people that I will keep in touch with for years to come. If you are looking to stay plugged in to the issues at hand, be consistently educated about the green facts through this site, and get a hands on look at what you can do to start making a difference in the world today, then Ampleen is the way to tap into that!
Best, Nicola
